University of California Campuses Unite To Connect First-Generation Faculty, Students
Across the University of California (UC) system, 42 percent of undergraduate students are the first in their family to attend college. To better serve this large and growing “first-gen” population and help build their sense of belonging on campus, UC has launched a system-wide First-Generation Faculty effort to connect these students with faculty mentors who have walked in their shoes.

Support Carbon Pricing as a Solution to Climate Change, Say College and University Presidents
A number of ACE member presidents are among the leaders from higher education institutions across the country supporting a student-driven effort to endorse carbon pricing to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions that cause climate change. The leadership circle of the higher education carbon pricing initiative released a letter May 8 calling on state and federal lawmakers to work proactively to enact a carbon price at the state and federal level.

Morgan State University Paving the Way for Adult Learners Through CPL
Research shows that adult learners are more likely to enroll in, persist in and complete postsecondary education programs when institutions recognize students’ previous experiences and grant credit for prior learning. Western Governors University, Ohio Community Colleges Collaborate to Meet Needs of Adult Students
A partnership between Western Governors University (WGU) and the Ohio Association of Community Colleges (OACC) will extend online, competency-based learning opportunities to all Ohio community college graduates. The agreement announced in October allows the graduates, as well as community college employees, to seamlessly transfer their coursework to WGU while also receiving a tuition discount at the accredited, nonprofit online university.
