Earlier this month three Massachusetts colleges, Smith, Mount Holyoke and Simmons, co-hosted the Women in Public Service Project Summer Institute, an effort designed to help emerging women leaders learn how to assist in rebuilding their post-conflict countries.
The participants traveled from communities across the world ravaged by war, human rights violations, and political violence. Over three days, they received hands-on support and mentoring from policymakers, government representatives and scholars on civic leadership, including skills in communication, the use of media and network building.
This is the third summer institute hosted by the Women in Public Service Project.
