Title: Creating Environments For Flourishing: Using Innovation, Evidence, and Community to Support and Improve the Emotional and Behavioral Health of Students

In collaboration with Georgetown University, the Mary Christie Foundation has released a new white paper on how colleges can improve and support the mental health and well-being of their young adult students.

The authors detail five key strategies: 1) commit to students’ flourishing; 2) meet students in their context; 3) engage the whole community; 4) evaluate the impact of these approaches; and 5) build extended approaches to care.

These promising practices stem from convenings with nearly 100 higher education leaders.

As a whole, the authors acknowledge COVID-19 and calls for addressing racial injustices as posing both challenges and opportunities for change. In response, colleges are encouraged to use innovation, evidence, and their whole community in supporting students’ well-being.
