Date: June 24, 2020
Source: Strada Education Network
Since April 1, Strada Education Network conducted a weekly national survey to capture the impact of COVID-19 on Americans’ lives, work, and education. Survey results are disseminated through an interactive dashboard, which allows users to compare results from the work and education survey over time.
The most recent report, released on June 24, finds that over one-third of all adults reported that if they lost their job due to COVID-19, they would seek a job in a different field from their current field. The top three chosen fields for survey respondents were business (18 percent), information technology (14 percent), and finance (9 percent). The top-ranked reasons for this change in field of work were to earn more money, reduce stress from work, and do work that helps more people.
When asked about additional training, nearly 28 percent said they saw the value of getting more education or training and 44 percent responded that they could get access to the education or the training they wanted The majority of survey respondents (62 percent) indicated they would seek a non-degree skills training program, while 38 percent stated they would seek out a degree program.
