A recent report by Emsi compares career outcomes for varying degrees in order to gain insight into the real-world connection between education and the workforce. The report looks at the first, second, and third jobs of students with degrees in six fields—language and philosophy, social sciences, business, communications, engineering and IT—to compare the outcomes and skills for each degree.
According to the report, the majority of outcomes are dispersed widely among many different careers. The data show that individuals take varying pathways throughout their careers, which can produce positive economic outcomes. The report also includes recommendations of how educators, regional development organizations, and businesses can use these data and findings.
