Warrior-Scholar Project Helping Veterans Earn Their Degrees
For veterans transitioning from the military to college, the return to academic life can be challenging. Many veterans struggle to readjust to academic and social life on campus, and eventually drop out.
That’s where the Warrior-Scholar Project (WSP) comes in.
WSP holds two-week intensive academic boot camps that aim to facilitate the transition to college, help veterans stay in school and earn their degrees and equip them with the tools they need to become leaders in the classroom and on campus. The boot camps focus on both substantive skills and overcoming and embracing the challenges faced by non-traditional learners.
The program is open to all enlisted veterans and transitioning current service members who plan to enroll in or transfer into a four-year undergraduate program. Boot camps will be held on 11 major U.S. college and university campuses this year.
Inside Higher Ed has a great in-depth look at how the project has benefited and enhanced the college experience of several participants.
